This is a Stimson Trek. Like all other Stimson designs - it is a little unusual, to say the least. A bit off-road buggy looking but with the driver sitting high up on the central spine of the vehicle. It has a roll-over structure consisting of hoops front & rear, joined by a central bar. There does not appear to much in the way of diagonal bracing, so I would not fancy testing the roll structure for real. |

Both the Treks on this page are owned by Dino, this one is fully road registered, his other one is in pieces but he has done a fair bit of work to the chassis (see below) |
|
The driving position - the accelerator and brake pedals are on the right of the tunnel and the clutch is on the left. The gear stick is between the driver's legs - avoid sudden stops! |

This is Dino's other Trek. This is the rear half
of the Stimson Trek spaceframe. The Mini trailing arms are used but suspended by coil over shock absorber units rather than the usual Mini rear subframe and rubber suspension. There does not appear to be much triangulation of the frame at the top suspension mounts, perhaps the loads were meant to be transferred via the roll over structure which attaches to the the vertical struts above the mounts. |

This is the front end - This frame and the Mini front subframe has been galvanised by the current owner. |

This is the main body tub for the Trek. Both of Dino's Treks have now been sold and are heading to America. (October 2002) But don't worry Dino now has a Mk2 Stimson Mini Bug. |
