Hawke DL17 - Conversion April 2001

Radiator is from a Mini but with the filler neck removed and the radiator is mounted on its side to produce a crossflow effect.

The cooling system uses a Mini Metro thermostat housing (with the take-off for the pressurised expansion tank). No thermostat is used so a blanking sleeve is fitted to the cylinder head to ensure the correct water flow path.

Rear shock absorbers are Koni adjustables.
Lurid blue metalflake paint was found in the back of my shed. By the looks of the can it has been there since 1975!

Exhaust system uses a Maniflow 3 branch manifold with the outlet turned by about 45 degrees. The pipe is 1 3/4" diameter and uses a 135 degree and two 90 degree formed bends welded up to an RC40 silencer.
I will lag the system once the stainless steel paint cures.
